Kitchen Sink Ice Cream

The Ice Cream Sink has been top of my Disney bucket list! It is basically a load of ice cream put in a kitchen sink smothered in all toppings imaginable for $30ish for 4 people to share!

The place that serves the ice cream is called Beaches and Cream Soda Shop at Yacht and Beach Resort! It's like a cool ice cream parlour and the decor is amazing, there is even a duke box!

When someone orders the ice cream sink and the waitress brings it to your table they dim the lights and a light flashes and they make an announcement and everyone cheers!

The family next to us received the sink when we arrived and we thought it was for the family to share but them others in their party started receiving their own ice cream sundaes. We soon realised that this ice cream sink was for one person! Wow America is crazy!! 

Anyways we ordered a sink between 4, we omitted the coffee and mint choc chip ice cream for birthday cake ice cream. I also asked them to not put any nut toppings on it.

However they put peanut butter sauce on it, which I hate the taste of so couldn't fully enjoy it as kept getting horrible tastes of peanut butter - yuck!

I did though enjoy tucking into the Oreos, brownies and cake covered in squirty cream! Apparently they use a whole can of squirty cream per sink!!

I would love to go back to Beaches and Cream and have a sundae to myself! :)

Resort days

The pool at Patterson is nice but it's not luxurious, so on our days off we decided to visit a resort and spent the day being a hotel guest by their pool! We have been to two resorts now!

Last week we visited the Polynesian for the day. The resort is having a lot of work done on it but the pool area was just bliss. There was a main pool with a slide and then a mini beach. The beach was cute and looked out over to Magic Kingdom, you could see Space Mountain and the top of the the Princess Castle. We spent the whole day on the beach on loungers catching the rays or in the pool!

Today we went to Caribbean Beach Resort! The resort was huge with 6 pools dotted around the resort. There were also a number of lakes with sandy beaches, deck chairs and hammocks. Of course we attempted to get into the hammocks! 

We also enjoyed cocktails on the beach :)

The Disney hotels/resorts are gorgeous! Now where to go next week.......

Frozen Madness

Frozen has taken over Hollywood Stuidos! Last Wednesday we took a visit to see it! We arrived with plenty of time to get a good spot for the 10am Frozen Parade! 

On arrival we were all given cardboard Olafs to hold, as they do not have the Olaf character yet!! 

The parade starts with 'snow' falling from the sky, which is a bit weird as it was boiling hot outside!! 

The parade featured, Anna and Elsa on a horse drawn carriage and also Kristof. 

There were also people 'skiing' and soldiers with pick axes, plus dancing snowflakes!!

The parade was good and all with the Frozen soundtrack!

We also visited the bakery and sampled the Frozen cupcakes. This includes an Elsa, Anna or Olaf cupcake. The Olaf one is carrot cake, Anna chocolate cake and Elsa vanilla sponge. 

They all look amazing! However I did not think my Anna one tasted amazing the icing was not sweet enough and the cake wasn't fluffy! Maybe Americans make cupcakes different to ones at home!! 

There is also an ice rink, and an area with 'snow' where guests can build snowmen! There is also a massive Frozen merchandise store, which at the moment does have Anna and Elsa dresses! I bought myself a mini Olaf, he is cute :) 

This Wednesday we went back to Hollywood Studios to catch the Frozen fireworks. The fireworks are at 9.45 and start with Anna and Kristoff on stage speaking and then the fireworks start and are synced to Frozem tunes. Then Elsa comes on stage and there is an image of Olaf melting in the summer heat. Elsa says that she needs to freeze him again, she puts her arms out like she does in the film, fireworks start right on queue and so does the song Let It Go! They are pretty spectacular! The whole display ends with fake snow falling from the sky! 

Frozen is literally taking over Disney!!!

Character meet and greet day

Yesterday Amy and I took a spontaneous trip to Magic Kingdom with the intent of queuing to see Anna and Elsa. The queue in usually about 3-5 hours but when we arrived it was only 90 mins. We joined the queue and waited for about 20 mins until a guest and cast member approached us asking us if it was just the two of us! We replied yes and she asked us to follow her! The guest had a fast pass for Anna and Elsa that she didn't want and wanted us to have it! The guest was lovely and we took a pic with her to show her husband the lovely English girls she gave her fast pass too!!! 

We went straight to the front of the line and straight into see the characters! We were sooo lucky!!

Next we went to see Gaston, and queued for 29 mins for him. He was such a flirt and a cheeky character! He made me place my hands on his muscly arms and he picked me up, i couldn't stop laughing it was so awkward but hilarious! 

Amy then took her pics with him and then he made us both in a picture together. Amy had her hands around his waist and he whispers to her "it's a meet and greet, not a meet and grope". We were in hysterics and the pictures are hilarious cos we are laughing in all of them!!

We watched the parade again and it was good, of course!! Although they had changed it a little but to accommodate for the craze of Frozen and Anna and Elsa were given a larger section of the parade! 

We then decided to leave but saw Tinkerbell had a 10 min wait. We didn't event wait 5 mins to see her and went straight and got a pic with her!

4th July

Wooo was lucky enough to be in America for the 4th July!! Although I did have to work a vey stressful 10 hour shift where everything went wrong! But it was nice to see most of the guests dressed in red white and blue and sporting the american flag where possible! :)

I finished work at 8.30 and Lily finished at Typhoon Lagoon at the same time! Her bus was meant to pick her up at 8.45 and drop her at DTD for 8.59 and we were planning on getting the guest bus to Epcot to watch the fireworks at 10pm.

However nothing is reliable over here especially the cast busses. Lily finally Arrived at 9.35 so we ran to the guest busses to find out that no busses go from DTD to Epcot. We were advised to get the bus to Yacht and Beach and then walk to Epcot. We got on the bus and arrived at the hotel at 10.20 so had missed the Epcot fireworks and them Hollywood Studios ones had just started. We walked through the lobby of the hotel to find ourselves on Disney's Boardsalk. We stayed here and watched the tail end of the Epcot fireworks and the rest of the ones from Hollywood Studios. It was not the best view but we managed to see some fireworks!

We wandered along the Boardwalk and grabbed a burger and chips for tea. We saw some people next to us eating some massive circle shaped pudding. I had seen pictures of these before so asked them what it was. It was a Funnel Cake, they told us it tasted like donuts. We walked to the Funnel Cake stand to find out it was closing :( so we told the cast member no worries we would get another day. We then asked him where the cast bus was so so we could go home. He goes "you should have told us you were cast members, meet me by the side door" so we walked to the side of the stand and he gave us a Funnel Cake with icing sugar and chocolate sauce for free! THANK YOU!! :)

We enjoyed the Funnel Cake, it tasted like donuts and profiteroles!! 

Magical Moments

So one of the big things about working in the Disney parks are the magical moments for the guests. These are extra special things that cast members can perform for guests. 

In the boutique these magic moments are super cute and I was lucky enough to perform two on Thursday.

The first was for a Princess whose father had bought her a special silver tiara with diamonds in it. I had to go and tell her that Tinkerbell had given me the tiara especially for her as she was Princess of the Day! She was completely speechless and overwhelmed and she looked so happy! When the fairy godmother turned the chair around so she could see what she looked like in the mirror she was stunned! It was such a precious moment!

The next magical moment happened when a little Princess had saved up a years worth of pocket money to visit the boutique and paid for her transformation herself! My coordinator decided to give her a wand, complimentary. I was asked to present the princess with the wand and told her that Tinkerbell had given me the wand to give to her as she knew she had worked so hard saving all her money to visit the boutique! Her huge smile was priceless! 

It's the little things like that that make the job worthwhile and so special :) 

Lunch at Sanaa and Animal Kingdom (again!!)

After going for character breakfast and our server telling us that cast members get 40% off at Sanaa we decided to book to go and eat there!

Sanaa is located inside Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge so we spent the morning at Animal Kingdom before getting the guest bus to the lodge!

Animal Kingdom Lodge is a hotel where animals roam in your garden, it's amazing! There were giraffes and zebras metres away from us! We arrived a bit early so we sat out the front looking at the animals before being seated! Inside was all African/Indian themed as this was the style of food!

For starter myself and Amy shared a selection of breads and dips. We had traditional naan, popadoms and onion kefela with mango chutney, garlic dip and roasted red pepper hummus. The mango chutney was homemade and divine!

For main I was torn between a choice of curry of tandoori chicken served on naan bread. I went for the curry and rice. You could pick two curries so went for butter chicken and a pork dish with basmati rice. The butter chicken was delicious but was not so keen on the pork.

However it all tasted delicious and was watered down with Tinkerbell Punch which came in my very own Tinkerbell beaker!

It was so nice to not eat rubbish, greasy American fried food and eat something with a bit of flavour! Can't believe we get 40% off the bill too! I paid $25 for a great lunch! I would definitely return and would have the tandoori chicken next time! :)
